Finding Reception Locations Online

Online Location Search

Find a Reception Location Online

It’s a lot faster checking out the websites of potential venues to collect the preliminary info you need than it is calling each one and trying to catch the appropriate event manager. Browse each location’s website and gather all the main facts: can it hold your maximum guest count? Does it provide the specific features you’re looking for? How’s the parking? What restrictions are there?

Check out photographs of the site online; hopefully they’ll have a wedding section with photos of other weddings that have taken place there. How does it look? How much would it cost to book? Are you interested?

Jot down your potentials, and eliminate the ones that don’t grab you. You’ll need to actually visit the venues to see them firsthand before booking of course, but using the web to eliminate as many as possible now will save you a lot of time and allow you to direct your energy to those best suited to your vision.

Venue Directories

WeddingLocation.com allows you to submit detailed search criteria to obtain results narrowed down by location, guest number, cost, time of day, and more. Country Club Reception (www.countryclubreceptions.com) provides a detailed list of country clubs in your area as a comparison chart of amenities and features. And for those in California, definitely look into the online version of “Here Comes the Guide” (www.herecomestheguide.com).

The Search Engines

Give local search engines a try as well. Google Local and CitySearch are two services worth trying. Look up keywords like “wedding reception locations”, “banquet facilities”, “event halls”, “hotels”, “historic locations”, and so forth. Add your city and state to the keyword list if you need to.

The Wedding Portal Sites

Check out the local directories offered by the big wedding portal websites (The Knot and Modern Bride are two of the biggest).
